Fluence, a leading educational platform for psychedelic therapy training, today announced that the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) has approved its Professional Certificate in Psilocybin Clinical Facilitation program under the Natural Medicine Health Act. This approval positions Fluence among the first organizations authorized to train licensed psychotherapists for Colorado's groundbreaking psychedelic therapy program - Psilocybin Facilitation.
Colorado, ranked among states with the highest need for expanded mental health access, will begin allowing licensed facilitators to provide psilocybin facilitation in 2025. Fluence's comprehensive, accelerated certificate program for clinicians meets all DORA requirements for clinical facilitator training, including 130 hours of didactic training, 40 practicum hours, and 50 consultation hours across a minimum six-month period.
"This milestone represents a significant step forward in expanding access to psychedelic therapy in Colorado," said Elizabeth Nielson, Ph.D., co-founder of Fluence. "Our program builds on our experience educating over 8,000 clinicians and brings together leading researchers and experienced practitioners to provide theoretically grounded, research-based frameworks for psychedelic therapy practice."
Fluence's Colorado program is specifically designed for licensed psychotherapists, aligning with the state's innovative approach that allows mental health providers to incorporate natural medicine services within their existing practices. The curriculum combines live online and in-person training, featuring small group learning environments and individualized feedback from expert faculty with extensive clinical trial experience.
"Colorado's framework creates unique opportunities for licensed mental health professionals to expand their therapeutic toolbox," said Ingmar Gorman, Ph.D., co-founder of Fluence. "Our program ensures therapists receive comprehensive training that prioritizes both safety and efficacy, supporting Colorado's commitment to addressing its mental health crisis through evidence-based approaches."
The training program is now open for enrollment in alignment of the state's 2025 implementation timeline. Fluence's certificate program prepares clinicians to:
